Overview of Operation Sindoor

During the recent military actions against Pakistan, questions arose regarding the whereabouts of key military leaders, including the Army Chief, Air Chief Marshal, Navy Chief, and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). Insights have emerged about the monitoring processes in place, revealing how many screens were utilized to keep an eye on Pakistan. The details surrounding Operation Sindoor highlight why the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy are recognized globally for their professionalism and discipline.

For the first time, India has implemented a strategy known as 'Red Teaming' in its military operation against Pakistan. This approach involves analyzing the mindset, strategies, and reaction patterns of adversaries to evaluate the effectiveness of operational plans. The team assesses potential enemy responses to various actions, thereby strengthening the operational preparation.

Formation of a Senior Official Team

According to sources, this marks the inaugural use of this concept in a real operation by the Indian Army, indicating a shift in India's strategic approach. It introduces a more dynamic and predictive methodology for cross-border operations. A Red Team comprising five senior officials from different regions of the country was established to plan this operation.

Inspiration from Mahabharata

The Indian Army has named this technique 'Vidur Vaktā', inspired by the character Vidur from the Mahabharata. Vidur, the son of Sage Vedavyasa and a maid, served as the Prime Minister of Hastinapur and was known for his wisdom, ethics, and advice on righteousness. His principles, known as Vidur Neeti, encompass significant insights into life, society, and politics, establishing him as a wise and strategic figure.

Assessment of Plans and Simulations

The Army already has a Red Force unit under the Shimla-based training command (ARTRAC), responsible for evaluating war exercise plans and simulations. These assessments are typically conducted using paper or sand models to define the parameters and conditions for planning and executing these exercises. Officials noted that while the Red Force simulates opposing strategies, the Red Team focuses on analyzing their plans and the anticipated reactions of adversaries at each step.
